Bail Set At $10 Million For Suspect In Houston Girl’s Killing After Her Body Was Found In Creek
A bond has been set for one of the murder suspects that is said to have killed a 12-year-old girl in Houston, Texas. Her body was discovered in a creek last week.
Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, a Venezuelan migrant, is accused of tying up Jocelyn Nungaray and taking her pants off prior to killing her. His bond was set at $10 million. The judge noted that the reason for the high bail is that there would be a great chance that Pena-Ramos would try to flee.
On Thursday, Pena-Ramos and another man from Venezuela, Johan Jose Rangel- Martinez were apprehended and charged with capital murder in the girl’s killing.
Rangel-Martinez is supposed to appear in court on Tuesday for his bond hearing. Prosecutors will then ask that his bail be set at $10 million, as well.
Records show that the two men got Nungaray to come under a bridge in the Houston-vicinity prior to her being strangled. The girl’s body was recovered on June 17.
Depending on the results of an autopsy or if it is found that Nungaray was kidnapped, both men could be eligible for the death penalty.
