A Wisconsin woman was sentenced to 40 years in prison after she injured an 11 month old and killed a 2 month old.
According to reports, Marissa Tietsort,31 was sentenced to 37 years for killing Benson and 3 years for injuring his sister.
In August of 2018 Tietsort called the children’s mother stating that the 11 month old had fallen off the couch and sustained carpet burn.
In October of 2018, Wausau Police were called to at Northway Coin Laundry regarding an unresponsive infant.
When they arrived the infants mother told them that she had just picked her children up from the babysitter, Tietsort.
She says she went to go pick her 2 month old up and noticed he was unresponsive.
Emergency crews arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.
It was determined that baby Benson had already been deceased prior to his mother picking him up.
During further investigation officers learned that Tietsort had taken the infant to McDonald’s with her boyfriend and the other child.
Surveillance footage showed the baby sitting in a car seat in a different booth while the woman ate with her boyfriend and the 11 month old.
Tietsort told police several stories before admitting to throwing the infant into a playpen because she was frustrated.
An autopsy reportedly showed Benson died from a broken tailbone and injuries to his head.
Tietsort was charged with charged with reckless homicide and child abuse.
