Tyre Sampson, the teen who plummeted from the Free Fall ride, at ICON Park, in Orlando, Florida, had several wounds and died from blunt force trauma. This is according to an autopsy report that has been released by the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The autopsy revealed that Sampson, 14, had extensive internal injuries. He suffered wounds to his head, neck, and torso. This is because he had fallen more than 70 feet on March 24. The report also noted that the teen had a fractured jaw and ribs, and a broken arm and leg.
Sampson’s death had been ruled an accident.
The rider’s weight limit for a rider was 287 pounds. The autopsy indicated that Sampson weighed 383 pounds. An expert on the management of rides stated that Sampson shouldn’t have been permitted to ride.
Back in March, it was discovered that Tyre’s seat was manually altered by a worker, and he wasn’t secured in it properly.
In April, Sampson’s relatives sued 10 companies, including ICON Park.
An investigation is continuing as the ride is still shutdown.
