Florida police are investigating after a group of teens broke into a multi million dollar home and threw a huge party.
On Monday, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office posted about the occurrence. They say that they were called out to a residence, in Watercolor, after security had reported too much noise, early Saturday morning.
“An open house party is against the law. An open house party in a home you break into is burglary,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
Deputies say that the people who owned the home didn’t know that there was a party.
When officers got to the location, most of the partygoers left. There were said to be close to 200 kids.
“Since then, videos are circulating on Snapchat, Instagram, and other social media platforms with some of the highlights. This includes where some of the people attending turn the foyer of the $8 million home into a boxing ring.” Some others were seen posing with alcohol in their hands and a handful of gold rings that they had found in the home.
A recording that the sheriff’s office posted depicts individuals partying and boxing inside of the residence.
The home suffered damages and items were taken during the party, the office added.
“The feeling when you know when someone else went through your closet, tried on your clothes, and used your bathroom doesn’t have a dollar amount attached to it. Especially in a place where you are supposed to feel safe.”
The homeowner said she had gone out of town last Wednesday and was set to return on Sunday. However, the party had been advertised on social media since last Monday. Thus, the family is trying to determine how anyone knew the homeowners would be gone.
What’s more, the $8 million home had been listed for sell on Zillow.
Officials want the people involved to contact police before further action is taken. This includes the possibility of receiving a subpoena for their Snapchat.
The sheriff’s office is urging anyone with details in the matter to come forward.
