Officials in Orlando, Florida, are investigating after six Black men went missing. This was after they were supposed to be at the Special Olympics USA Games. The men were a part of Haiti’s Special Olympics delegation.
The men, whose ages range from 18 to 32, were in Orlando to attend the competition on June 5. They were found to be missing after all of them returned their hotel room keys, close to 2:30 p.m., on Monday.
The missing have been identified as Atione Mithon, 32, Nicholson Fontilus, 20, Peter Mianovich Berlus, 19, Anderson Petit-Frere, 18, Steevenson Jacquet, 24, and Oriol Jean, 18. Reports indicate that the men left their belongings behind in their hotel room.
Authorities say the incident is an isolated case and don’t believe that foul play is suspected.
The Special Olympics validated that among the missing are an athlete, a coach, and four Unified partners.
The men had last been observed at 710 S. Victory Way in Kissimmee, near the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Officials are requesting that anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the men to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
