The body of an 11-year-old girl who had been reported missing has been found in a forested area of France.

Reports indicate that Louise Lasalle from Essonne was last seen on February 7, after she failed to return home from school around 2 p.m.

In response to her disappearance, authorities launched an investigation and initiated a search for Lasalle. Surveillance footage captured her leaving the school and crossing a street, as well as entering a wooded area close to Andre Maurois College in Epinay.

Search efforts in the Parc des Templiers woodlands led to the discovery of Lasalle’s lifeless body on February 8 at approximately 2:30 a.m.

An autopsy conducted later that day revealed that she had suffered multiple stab wounds.

After examining additional video surveillance, police arrested a 23-year-old man and his 20-year-old girlfriend, who were seen following Lasalle; they were later released.

The Versailles judicial police have since initiated a murder investigation involving a minor under the age of 15.
