A man from Augusta was taken into custody last week after he left three young children unsupervised at a McDonald’s while he went for a job interview.

On March 22, Chris Louis, 24, faced charges for neglecting a minor. This incident occurred at the McDonald’s located at 2902 Washington Road in Augusta, which includes an indoor playground.

Authorities were notified when a concerned customer observed that the children, aged 1, 6, and 10, were alone. A deputy who responded to the call found the children without adult supervision. A witness reported seeing Louis with the kids around 4:30 p.m. that day, noting that he had exited the restaurant, returned briefly, and then left once more.

Louis returned to the McDonald’s at approximately 6:18 p.m. and was arrested by officers. He explained that he had walked to the restaurant with his children from their apartment and did not want them to walk back alone while he attended his nearby job interview, as he lacked a vehicle.

The children’s mother arrived soon after to take custody of them. Louis was later arrested and taken into custody.
