At least 98 people have died and dozens were injured after an oil tanker truck blew up in Sierra Leone. This came after huge crowds arrived to an area to get leaking fuel.

On Friday night, a tanker slammed into another truck as it was going into a gas station close to a busy intersection. This occurred near the capital of Freetown.

After fuel began to leak, the drivers of both vehicles alerted people nearby to get out of the way as they tried to deal with the spill. But, people, in the poor country, still attempted to collect the fuel. Soon after, the leaking fuel began to ignite and a huge explosion followed.

In recordings, a great fireball can be seen in the sky, people with extensive burns were screaming out, and victims laying on the ground could be observed.

It is unknown what caused the leaking fuel to catch on fire.
