Arlington police are investigating after officers shot and killed a man Thursday afternoon.

Just before 5 p.m. officers responded to a call regarding a man being stabbed to death at an apartment complex near Green Oaks and Collins Street.

Upon arriving they spotted a person looking out a window and then they saw a man walking out of the apartment holding a knife.

Officers told the man to drop his weapon but instead he charged towards authorities and was shot. The man fell to the ground but got back up and took off running.

Police chased after the man and he tried to charge towards officers again with the knife and was shot again by the same officer.

The suspect then ran towards an open field and another officer tased him. He then fell to the ground and was placed in handcuffs.

While putting cuffs on the man officers noticed the man had been shot. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say they searched the apartment and never found evidence of the deadly stabbing that the caller initially called about.
