Last Thursday, Tamara Starks was headed to her business. She owns Treasure Chest Beauty Studio and Captain’s Lodge Barber Studio, and also, Starks’ financial consulting office.
As she approached the location on W. Arkansas Lane in Arlington, she witnessed one of her stylist running out of the building that had caught fire.
“I feel like I’ve lost everything. Years of memories, years of people we’ve developed here at this business, and they went on their own…,” stated Starks.
The loss impacts many of the studios’ stylist, nail techs, and barbers. It also affects the goal to help young entrepreneurs which has been the aim for the last 10 years.
The location offers mentorship and development help for barbers and stylist. The husband-and-wife combo also use it for meetings to assist working moms in becoming more financial literate.
Starks said that the fire department told her it seemed to be an electrical fire.
Now, the Starks will attempt to start over. They have started a GoFundMe campaign, looking for assitance from others.
“It’s hard for people to ask for help, but we need the community to come together so we can rebuild and re-establish what we had,” Starks expressed.
