Earlier this month, actor and comedian David Koechner was apprehended for operating a motor vehicle while impaired(OVI).
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has validated claims of the apprehension, and on Thursday, released body cam video of the incident.
The recording reveals a sheriff’s deputy stopped “Anchorman” and “The Office” actor, David Koechner, prior to the trooper arriving to the location.
This occurrence happened at 1:47 a.m., in a rural section, close to the Ohio-West Virginia state line, on June 4, 2022.
The deputy stated that Koechner was headed to Comi Con in West Virginia. He was then pulled over for going through the solid white line multiple times. Koechner was said to have had glossy eyes and smelled like alcohol.
“I got a couple of lane violations on him. He actually rolled up on me pretty quick behind me, got back over. I guess he realized that I was a deputy. Slowed down a little bit, but I waited for him to pass. Then I stopped him,” the deputy could be heard saying in the recording.
Koechner had stated to the trooper that he had consumed one beer prior to starting his drive from Cincinnati to Huntington, West Virginia.
The trooper then demanded that Koechner have a field sobriety test. The body cam footage showed what happened, and Koechner was apprehended.
Documents show that Koechner was charged with three offenses. This includes operating a vehicle while under the influence and driving under the influence with a previous conviction. He was also charged with driving on a suspended license. He admitted to being arrested in December 2021, for an OVI, as well.
Koechner is set to appear in court on July 8.
He is scheduled to be a co-host, again, for a fundraiser for Children’s Mercy Hospital on June 24-25.
