Chris Appleby, a 33 year-old Amish man, was apprehended by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department in Tennessee. This comes after 25 pounds of marijuana were discovered on his property.
Appleby now faces four criminal charges.
Many members of the Amish community had complained about the man. On November 1, a search of his residence was executed. Also found were 13 weapons and cash.
Authorities say that the man had a full functioning greenhouse where he grew and dried the drug.
Appleby, who was not born Amish but joined the community later in life, was taken into custody on Monday without incident.
“Possession of any amount is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to 11 months, 29 days in prison, and up to a $2,500 fine,” stated the Marijuana Policy Project.
