Almost $100K Is Stolen After Burglars Break Into Ex-NBA Player Vince Carter’s Residence

On Sunday night, close to 11:50 p.m., the Atlanta, Georgia, police department answered to a burglary call at ex-NBA star Vince Carter’s mansion. No one was harmed, but the theives took almost $100,000 in cash, authorities say.

An off-duty police officer was on her way to another call when she saw an unknown man, in all black, running from the home. She also saw the suspect get into a black SUV, but he wasn’t apprehended.

A police report noted that a window in the front of the home had been busted. There was also “a large amount of $100 bills spilled on the ground.”

Those bills totaled $16,100 of the cash that had been stolen. Also found was a gold Desert Eagle pistol that was Carter’s and a black Glock 26 pistol with an extended magazine. Investigators think that the Glock belonged to the suspect.

Sondi Carter, Carter’s wife, was the one who contacted authorities. She disclosed that she and her sons stayed in a closet in the bedroom as suspects combed through their things in a room upstairs. Soni reported several rooms that were in disarray. A gate at the top of the steps had also been ripped off of the hinges.

One fingerprint was taken from the crime scene, but the Atlanta Police Department hasn’t publicly released a name of any suspects.

Carter was a part of the NBA for 22 seasons, including eight All-American teams and two All-NBA teams. In 2020, he retired. Now, he is an NBA analyst for ESPN.
