Allen ISD will have one armed security guard at every elementary school in the district following a board meeting on Monday.
The decision on Monday was made to contract a security guard company in order to meet the new Texas State Law that goes into effect in September. House Bill 3, which was created shortly after the Uvalde mass school shooting, requires schools in Texas to have one armed security officer at every campus.
Allen ISD has chosen Dallas company, L & P Global Security, to secure their 17 elementary campuses by armed means. The rest of the schools in their district will have school resource officers that will be armed at all times.
The state of Texas will fund $15,000 per campus towards the cost of security, however, AISD says it will cost them nearly double that amount.
