Alec Baldwin is facing felony charges for the 2021 shooting death of a cinematographer while in rehearsal.
The Santa Fe, New Mexico district attorney announced that prosecutors will be moving forward and charging Baldwin with two counts of Involuntary Manslaughter in the case.
Baldwin was handed a prop gun that was to be used while filming the movie “Rust” on October 21, 2021. During rehearsal, Baldwin pointed the gun at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The gun, which had a live round in it, went off and struck the 42-year-old, killing her. The director, Joel Souza, was also injured in the shooting.
According to Baldwin, the assistant director, David Halls, informed him there were no live rounds in the gun before handing it to him. Halls was charged with negligent use of a deadly weapon and received six months probation.
The film’s weapons handler, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who allegedly loaded the gun will also be charged with Involuntary Manslaughter.
I do not believe Alec should be prosecuted for this. I hope its unanimously not guilty.
