On Monday, a man was apprehended by custom agents at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is reported that he attempted to smuggle melted-down gold that totaled close to $40,000.
Customs officials say that the unidentified man kept the gold stashed away in a pouch under a wig that he had on. They added that two capsules containing the melted gold were also discovered in his rectum.
Delhi Customs displayed a recording of the wig being cut off. Then, a pouch of melted gold that had been glued to the man’s bald head could be seen.
The passenger had come from Abu Dhabi and had an Indian passport. He had been taken into custody after he had gotten off of the airplane.
Passengers are permitted to carry gold on planes. However, they must declare how much they are bringing in or leaving with. Additionally, they must pay the required taxes.
