A 54-year-old man was an Airbnb host in Comfort, Texas. He has now been apprehended after claims that he used a spy camera to take pictures and to record more than 2,000 guests who stayed at his facility.
Authorities say that Jay Allee secretly placed the spy camera where it looked similar to a wifi-router. They added that the device was discovered in a room.
The 2,000 photos and recordings depicted guests in intimate situations and changing their attire.
It was noted that the spy cam was purchased online. It was found when a couple felt that something wasn’t right about the wifi device. They then did an online search of how to locate hidden devices.
Allee is said to have used the camera for a year. He was apprehended for violating the privacy of his guest and causing emotional distress.
He is facing 15 counts, including four counts of invasive visual recording.
Allee has denied the charges, but his facility has still been banned by Airbnb.
