Many families are finding it hard to locate diapers for their babies and toddlers.
About 33 percent of households are being impacted by the shortage of these items.
The COVID-19 pandemic’s influence on the world supply chain is definitely correlated to the “diaper need”, researchers say.
Furthermore, some families are finding it difficult to afford diapers now, as prices have risen amid the shortage. Even diaper drives have started to diminish.
“Families are literally making choices between buying food and buying diapers. Every single time they will choose to feed their children and try to make the diapers last as long as they can. We are seeing babies left in one diaper a day. Families are rinsing out and reusing diapers. Parents are making really tough decisions about basic needs that they shouldn’t have to make,” said Executive Director of The Diaper Bank of North Carolina.
