David Balogun enjoys playing baseball, doing karate, and spending time with his parents and sister. He seems like your ordinary happy child.
However, what is different about David than most kids is that he completed high school at just nine years old!
“I realized that I [was] able to graduate at the age of ten or nine as long as I put the effort in, and with the help of my mom, dad, and of course, Reach Cyber Charter School, I was able to graduate,” David stated.
He has recently become the youngest graduate of the school, located in Harrisburg, PA. This came after finishing the program in the third grade.
The charter school let David finish his courses online in his hometown of Bensalem. The CEO of the school noted that they allow students to attend school year-round, and they can excel forward on their own schedule.
“I wanted to do it because I had the ability to do it. So why not use those abilities for the greater good?”
Before he received his graduation certificate, David was given the 2022 Distinguished Student Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Gifted Education.
He also has a membership in Mensa International, the biggest high-IQ society, ever.
In June, David will be given his official diploma along with other graduates. He has already started to take college-level classes and is thinking about a career in engineering, chemistry, or software development.
“I hope I can use this opportunity to show that I’m not the only one that can do this,” David added.
