An 8th grader was shot and killed at a Fort Worth apartment complex. It has been said that he tried to burglarize a woman’s residence, and she shot him.

Authorities say that the woman who fatally shot the 14-year-old boy on Thursday is cooperating with them.

As police questioned the woman, they discovered that she had reported break-ins or attempted breaks-in prior to this shooting. As of now, no one has been apprehended.

Just prior to 3 a.m., officers answered to a call regarding an attempted burglary at an apartment close to I-20 and McCart Ave. Officers went to the scene and then left to complete the report.

A little while after that, the same woman contacted authorities and said that the burglar had returned.

Fort Worth police went back to the scene, again, now finding the 14-year-old with a gunshot injury to the chest, lying on the ground. Authorities say the woman who had called them had shot the teen who was declared deceased.

Reports have indicated that the teen was a student at Fort Worth ISD’s Rosemont Middle School.

His mother, who resides in the same apartment community, stated that her son would occasionally exit the apartment at night. She learned about it when her other daughter had awakened her.
