A referee, in a youth basketball game in Georgia, was attacked and seriously hurt by several players last weekend.
It isn’t quite known what caused the chaos at the “Love of the Game” that was held at Stronghold Christian Church in Lithonia. But, many 8th grade players can be seen beating up the referee.
The official had to get 30 stitches but is expected to recover.
The team that attacked the referee will be prohibited from attending any other future events, stated the the organizer, Kenneth Tarver of KB Sports.
The most troubling part of the video is that no one appears to help the referee. Parents, many of which were laughing, are observed watching from the stands. One other official simply shakes his head.
Tarver says that he will “beef up security” at all future events.
