8 Year Old Killed During Drive By While Playing On Front Porch

An 8 year old Illinois boy was shot and killed as he played on his front porch Monday evening.
Officers responded to a shooting call on the 15700 block of Homan Avenue.
Upon arrival they found the victim, Demetrius Stevenson,8 suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
During the investigation officers learned that the victims 18 year old brother was the intended target.
An unknown person drove by the house, got out of the vehicle and opened fire striking Stevenson.
Officers believe this to be a gang related shooting.
The older brother, whose name has not been released was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant and questioned.
Officers are reviewing surveillance video from homes in the neighborhood for evidence.
This shooting investigation remains ongoing.
