After a fortunate discovery, an 8-month-old baby was found alive in a field after spending the night alone.
Niguel Jackson was found Wednesday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after his mother abandoned him.
The mother had gone to a fire station and then to a hospital. After being informed that the child had been left by himself, emergency crews searched for him on foot, and a helicopter was able to find his location from above. The mother had showed first responders the area where she had left the baby.
“The infant was taken to a local hospital for precautionary medical treatment. It’s believed that the mother suffered apparent medical issues,” a statement from the police department read. They added that Niguel “didn’t even cry during the rescue,” which happened while the temperature was in the 50s.
No one is facing charges at this time, and the investigation is continuing.
