$70 Million Lawsuit In Motion After 14 Year-Old Girl Dies Under Pool Cover

Nabila Maazouz, a 14 year-old from Oregon, passed away after drowning in a pool. Now, her family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

The girl, who was a freshman at Oregon Episcopal School, was on the Liberty High School swim team. She was discovered deceased under a pool cover on November 20, 2019, after practice.

He relatives are now asking for $70 million in damages. They say that the pool was “defective and unreasonably dangerous.”

It has been noted that the cover over the pool was heavy and made a suction that stops swimmers form being able to escape, if necessary. The family also says that no warning label was on the cover to inform people of the possible dangers.

The defendants named in the lawsuit are the Hillsboro School District, Universal Filtration Inc., and The Pool and Spa House.
