A Louisiana dog owner was arrested Friday after his dog viciously attacked and killed a 7 year old girl.
On January 6 officers responded to a call regarding a child being attacked by a pit bull in a yard. When they arrived emergency crews rushed the victim, Sadie Davila, to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
A relative of the victim told officers that the field was over visiting and playing in the yard when she was attacked. They say they tried to stop the attack by hitting the dog with a walking cane but that didn’t work.
Animal control found the dog with blood around its mouth and capture it. It is unclear what happen to the dog.
Deputies also spoke with the dog owner, 20 year old Erick Lopez, who admitted to police that he was not home at the time of the attack and that his dog would sometimes roam around the neighborhood.
Lopez was arrested and charged with negligent homicide.
