Several brands of ice cream have been recalled by Totally Cool, Inc., of Owings Mills, Maryland. There is a chance that they could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can lead to serious and sometimes deadly infections in children or vulnerable adults.
Fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea are some of the short-term symptoms that can appear. Additionally, pregnant women could suffer miscarriages and stillbirths.
The products in question can be identified by looking at the date and plant information as these products were distributed throughout the country.
Some of the products include the Taharka Brothers honey graham and key lime pie pints, that have a plant code starting with the number 24.
Also, many different kinds of Jeni’s brand ice cream sandwiches have been recalled, as well.
To date, no sicknesses have been reported.
