A woman is said to have died from an overdose in a hotel in Oregon. Her 6-month-old baby boy was then left alone for four days.

On Monday, Springfield police officers were performing a welfare check on the 29-year-old mother and her baby at a Quality Inn.

They then found the baby in a stroller, nearly unresponsive. The mother was found deceased with a small amount of heroin close to her. Police determined that the overdose had occurred days before.

The child was found suffering from dehydration, malnourishment, and extreme diaper rash. He was transported to a hospital where staff say that his medical condition is improving.
