After consuming raw oysters from a seafood stand in Manchester, Missouri, a man died.
Officials stated that the death occurred on Thursday and was the result of the Vibrio vulnificus bacteria. It is often found that this bacteria doesn’t have an affect on the taste, smell, or appearance of an oyster.
Health officials in St. Louis stated that the oysters had probably been contaminated prior to reaching the stand. They added that the man, 54, had eaten the oysters within that past week.
Fruit Stand & Seafood, the business, is now working with authorities as they try to figure how the oysters were contaminated.
