On December 27, 2022, the Gary, Indiana, police department was called to a home in the 3800 block of Adams Street. At first, the incident was in regards to shots fired, but later, the caller asked for an ambulance.
The caller wasn’t at the location when authorities arrived, but officers found several small children running around inside of the home. When officers went into the home, they found the small children and a 31-year-old woman who was unconscious. The woman was declared deceased once the fire department arrived to the location.
The homicide unit and crime lab were summoned to the scene. Additionally, the children were placed with relatives once Child Protective Services was notified.
Authorities do have a person of interest, but no other details have been provided.
