43 Years After Murdering Teen Girl, Man Is Arrested

2.3kviews

On December 16, Mark Stanley Personette, the accused killer of a New York City teenager, Marissa Rolf Harvey, was arrested.

Authorities in San Francisco say that the 76-year-old was apprehended for the 1978  strangling of Harvey. She was found deceased after going to Golden State Park.

Harvey, 15, journeyed from New York to San Francisco to visit her half-sister for Easter. However, on March 27, she went missing after visiting the park to go horseback riding. Her body was discovered the following day and showed visible signs of being strangled with a cord-like object.

After the case went unsolved, in 2020, the case was opened again, using “advanced investigative methods.” This led to Personette being the prime suspect. He has been charged with one count of homicide.

The San Francisco Police Department’s goal is to now find out if any other similar unresolved sexual assault cases can be connected back to Personette.
