On Sunday, a 4-year-old girl died after she choked on food at a Costco store in Kennewick, Washington.
Reports indicate that as the girl was choking on a hot dog, witnesses attempted life-saving measures, and an AED was used.
It isn’t known if anyone administered abdominal thrusts or any other methods to remove the food that was obstructing the child’s airway.
First responders assisted, as well, and the girl was transported to a medical facility where she eventually passed away.
Because witnesses observed the girl choking and first responders were involved, no autopsy will be performed.
Her cause of death has been listed as asphyxia caused by choking.
