A 4 year-old old has died after a fentanyl overdose. Now, Pennsylvania father, Van Marcus Redding, has been apprehended.
Redding, 36, is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment, and drug possession.
Avant Redding accidentally died while he was with his father. However, it is not yet known how the child consumed the drugs.
Redding told police that he picked his son up on May 7 and stopped at McDonald’s on the way to a party. The boy ate a happy meal, and then began vomiting. After the child couldn’t keep his balance, he transported him to the hospital. He also got into an accident while in route.
The child was pronounced deceased upon getting to the medical facility.
After searching Redding’s residence, authorities found cash and baggies with a powder substance. He allegedly told police he sold the items from his home.
An autopsy revealed that Avant died from fentanyl toxicity.
