3-Year-Old Girl Fatally Beaten By Kids, 10 &12, While Mother Went To Casino

A 3-year-old girl has been fatally beaten. Now, four people, including two children, have been charged with murder.

On Monday, February 12, at about 3:45 p.m., authorities with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office answered a call to a residence. This was regarding an unresponsive child, Blessing Buckles. Deputies disclosed that a child had contacted them and stated that no adults were in the residence.

Buckles was taken to a medical facility in critical condition. She suffered a brain bleed and bruises and cuts. After showing visible signs of blunt force trauma, she succumbed to her wounds on Wednesday, February 14.

Four suspects have been apprehended in the child’s death. This includes the child’s mother, 26-year-old Dineshia Yates, a 10-year-old boy, a 12-year-old boy, and 26-year-old Terica Scott. Scott is the mother and aunt of the young suspects.

Deputies arrived to the residence on Monday. That’s when Yates and Scott had been pulling into the driveway. They said that they has just gotten home from the casino.

Deputies then found that eight children had been left by themselves in the home for multiple hours. Their ages range from 11 months to 12 years.

Yates and her children had been residing with Scott for about two weeks. Additionally, the women have been accused of leaving the children unattended on a regular basis.

The 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy were taken into custody on Friday. To add, they have been charged with simple battery and second-degree murder.

Scott was taken into custody on Friday after admitting that she knew that her nephew was violent. She has been charged with principal to second-degree murder and principal to battery. Yates was apprehended the next day. She is facing charges of principal to second-degree murder and principal to simple battery.
