A 3 year old boy was injured when he found a handgun and shot himself Friday afternoon.
Officers responded to a shooting call on the 1800 block of E. Lafayette around 4:25pm.
Upon arrival officers learned that a 3 year old boy found a handgun inside a jacket and accidentally shot him self.
The mother transported her son to an area hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
According to reports, the boys mother had a friend over to the apartment and she had a gun inside her jacket. The unknown person has a license to carry a concealed weapon.
She took off her jacket and went into another room with the mother. Moments later the mother and her friend heard a loud bang.
The child was transported to a hospital and the woman was questioned by police. No arrest have been made in this shooting.
