On Saturday, a 3-year-old boy died after falling from a high-rise balcony in Manhattan, New York.
Authorities answered to the call regarding the child who had fallen from a tall building, close to East 122nd Street and 3rd Avenue in East Harlem, around 11 a.m.
Police say that the child fell from a 29th-floor balcony, onto a landing on the 3rd floor.
“We believe that the child exited through a window, but exactly how that occurred is under investigation at this time,” said a police spokesperson.
Some observers say that they saw and heard the incident occur.
The child was taken to a medical facility where he was declared deceased.
“He was a beautiful little boy. He just turned three,” stated Nidia Cordero.
“I’m shocked. I’m in total shock,” said resident Carmen Perez.
The parents were in the residence when the tragedy happened, and Cordero stated that she heard them having a disagreement prior to the child falling.
“I met her…she would cry and come knocking on my door for diapers. I don’t know what to say. It’s heartbreaking. It shouldn’t have happened.”
An investigation is continuing.
