A family friend is one person out of three that is said to be a part of snatching a 3-month-old baby boy from his residence in Northern California. On Wednesday, authorities said they think that the abduction was premeditated.
On Tuesday Brandon Cuellar, was discovered safe and doing well. This came one day after he was kidnapped from his home in San Jose.
Police named three suspects as family friend Yesenia Guadalupe Ramirez, 43; Jose Roman Portillo, 28; and Baldomeo Sandoval, 37.
On Monday, close to 1 p.m., the 3-month-old was reported missing. The baby’s grandmother had been taking care of him while his mother worked.
The grandmother told authorities that she had gotten home and placed the baby inside of her apartment. She then returned to her vehicle to retrieve groceries.
In that short time span, a man, later said to be Portillo, entered the apartment and grabbed the baby. The incident was captured on surveillance video.
Police say that Portillo had a baby carrier in his possession when he arrived to the home. Thus, they feel that this act had been planned.
On Monday, Ramirez, the family friend, had taken the grandmother and the baby to a supermarket. Officials think that Ramirez had been communicating with one of the other suspects at the same time.
The three suspects have been charged with kidnapping, child abduction, and home invasion.
Detectives stated that certain parts of the investigation can’t be disclosed at this time, including where the child was found.
