At the conclusion of a chase, three Houston police officers were shot in the Third Ward area of the city.
Authorities say that the shooting occurred around 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, January 27, 2022, on the 2100 block of McGowen Street.
Police were chasing the driver of a gray Dodge Charger before gunshots rang out.
Camera footage shows the Charger crash, and the driver began to fire at officers as officers shot back. The gunman got into a white Mercedes and left, but police aren’t sure how the two cars are connected.
One patrol vehicle could be observed with bullet holes, as well as, the Dodge Charger. Officials say that the man they were chasing had shot up his girlfriend’s home.
All three officers were transported to a medical facility and are in stable condition.
Authorities say that the suspect’s name is Roland Caballero. He was involved in a standoff at a residence with a gunshot injury to his neck.
This the third time Houston police officers have come under attack in recent weeks.
