A man in Nashville, Tennessee, was killed and four people were hurt in a two-vehicle wreck on Thursday evening.
On July 4, at about 7:15 p.m., a wreck occurred between a Honda CRV and Dodge Ram pickup on I-40, close to the White Bridge Road exit.
29-year-old Jacabo Hernandez, who was driving the Honda, was thrown from the vehicle and was declared deceased at the scene, authorities say.
A 28-year-old woman and 18-month-old boy, who were in the vehicle with Hernandez, suffered non life-threatening wounds.
Authorities say that Hernandez had been driving east on I-40 when he lost control of his vehicle during heavy rain. The Honda struck the center median wall and later stopped in a driving lane.
Hernandez then went into the back seat to check on the 18-month-old child who was sitting in a car seat. The truck came from behind and hit the Honda.
Records show that Hernandez was thrown out the vehicle from the back window.
The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt. However, his passengers, a woman and a 15-year-old boy, had non-life threatening wounds.
Authorities say that the wreck was due to the Honda failing to stay in its lane.
