A mother was found shot to death inside her Atlanta apartment on September 25.
Carlether Foley,36 was found unresponsive inside her apartment from a gunshot wound by her 17 year old son.
Foley’s son found his mother shortly after 11pm with a gunshot wound to the head.
Officers responded to the call to learn that a neighbor was cleaning his gun when it accidentally discharged.
The bullet went through the wall and struck Foley while she slept.
The 22 year old neighbor told police he did not contact them because he was enlisted in the Navy.
Instead he went next door and offered to pay for the damages not knowing the severity.
His attorney Jeff Sliz released a statement saying, “He left his name and number and said ‘I’m sorry, I’ll be glad to repay any and all damage that I caused’, not knowing that there was any problem other than physical damage. My client is just decimated by it but we obviously know we’re not as hurt and grieving as the family of the woman. Our condolences and thoughts and prayers are with them.”
The neighbor was arrested and booked into Gwinnett County jail with no bond.
