On Monday, a 25-year-old woman was fatally shot, close to a playground in New Orleans.
Brittnay Ussin was seen in a viral recording as two women were fighting, close to a park.
Her mother stated that the 25-year-old was not involved in the altercation; however, she died after being shot.
The recording depicts two women fighting prior to a gunshot being heard. Family members say that the hardest part is seeing no one assisting after the shooting.
“All that time, they’re out there fighting, not one person,” stated family members.
They say that Ussin was in the video, seen spraying a substance at another woman as the fight was going on with the two women. They added that she battled substance abuse and had an acute mental illness.
Furthermore, reports indicate that the fight was not random. It is said that Ussin went to the location with her sister for that reason. Relatives blame social media as part of the problem.
“We start pushing the fight versus preventing the fight. It’s all about clicks now. It’s all about them views. There’s a lot of altercations you go through in life, and if you really think about it, if you just walk away from it, it’d be over,” Ussin’s uncle stated.
33-year-old Nayiondra Woolridge has been apprehended in relation to the shooting and has been charged with second-degree murder, battery, and aggravated assault with a firearm.
She is being held in the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
