A man and two young children were fatally shot while sitting inside a vehicle Tuesday night in Columbus.
Officers responded to a shooting call at the Winchester Lakes Apartments on the 6600 block of Kodiak Drive around 6:15pm.
Upon arrival they found a vehicle full of bullet holes along with three victims inside.
Emergency crews arrived and pronounced all the victims dead at the scene. They were later identified as Charles Wade,22, Demitrius Wall’neal,9 and his sister Londynn Wall’neal,6.
According to reports the three were sitting h in the parking lot of the apartments when two suspects approached the vehicle. They then opened fire at the vehicle before getting into a waiting vehicle.
The suspects fled the scene before officers could arrive.
Columbus Division of Police Assistant Chief LaShanna Potts said, “This is unacceptable,”calling on the public to help the police put an end to gun violence in the city. “I am p*****. I am p*****. I speak for the division, the officers who have to go to these runs day in and day out, it’s getting tiresome. We need the community to help us. This gun violence has got to stop.”
