There has been much confusion on how the homicide/murder numbers are reported from the Dallas Police Department.
As of today, December 20, 2019, the following is a breakdown of those numbers in hopes to clear up any confusion.
There have been 210 total homicides in 2019:
Of those homicides, 200 are murders and 10 appear to be justifiable homicides.
The grand jury will make a final determination on those homicides considered justifiable.

210 Total Homicides YTD (2019)
200 are murders
10 appear to be justifiable homicides that occurred in 2019 (justifiable homicides are NOT included in the 200 murder count, but are included in the total homicide count)
190 are murders where the incident and death occurred in 2019
(10) are murders where the originating incident occurred in prior year(s) that resulted in the death this year.
