21-Year-Old Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison After Three People Died In Street Racing Accident In Tarrant County

21-year-old Nelson Ramirez has received 10 years in prison after a street racing wreck that killed three people in 2022.

The victims include Cindy Griffin, Madison Lake, and Bishop Kline.

NBC DFW reported that Ramirez had struck another vehicle in River Oaks as he was traveling at a very “high rate of speed.”

“It’s devastated us. We’re still trying to cope with it. He was my best friend just like all my other children are,” stated the mother of Bishop Kline during victim impact statements.

Ramirez spoke in his own defense, seeking probation, not a jail sentence.

“I’m no longer that old Nelson the day of the accident. And I believe in my heart that I’m a changed man, and I want to become better,” he said.

After listening to other speaks and looking at a recording from the night of the accident, the judge sentenced Ramirez to jail time.

He will serve 10 years in prison on each charge of manslaughter and racing on a freeway leading to serious bodily injury. His six sentences will be served at the same time.
