20-year-old Thalia Chaverria was discovered dead in her residence this week. Chaverria was a junior soccer player at New Mexico State University. Police are looking into the matter but don’t suspect foul play.

On Monday morning, close to 7 a.m., the Las Cruces Police Department, in New Mexico, arrived to a home and discovered an unconscious woman. When first responders arrived to the scene, Thalia was already deceased.

Authorities say that there is no indication that Thalia’s death is suspicious or the result of a criminal offense.

Thalia was a defender who was entering her third season playing for the university. Last season, she started in 20 games and played for 1,800 game time minutes. With her assistance, NM St. won its first-ever WAC conference title in women’s soccer.

Chaverria’s relatives have now created a GoFundMe to assist with costs connected to funeral arrangements.
