On March 27, K’aun Green, 20, was caught on San Jose restaurant surveillance video defending himself against two men. One man was armed with a “ghost gun”. Green grabbed the gun and attempted to deescalate the situation and exit the establishment.
Within four seconds, a police officer ordered Green to put the gun down and shot him four times.
Green was rushed to the hospital and was handcuffed to the bed. Authorities would not allow him to speak with his family until he was cleared as a suspect days after the incident.
Green and his lawyers are filing a civil rights lawsuit against the city for the actions of the officer.
Green is a football player at Contra Costa College. He hoped to head to a Division 1 college, but with his recovery time being 6 to 10 weeks, it makes those goals unclear.
