2 Year Old Killed And 3 Others Injured During Crash Involving A Drunk Driver; Suspects In Custody

A 2 year old is dead and three others injured after a suspected drunk driver ran a light and crashed into another vehicle Saturday night.
The incident took place when a Garland police officer tried to pull over a suv after it ran a light at Broadway Blvd and Oates Rd and Broadway Blvd and Duck Creek.
The driver began speeding at rates of 100mph on I-635 and even went so far as to turn off his headlights.
Officers called for assistance and a DPS helicopter to follow the suv.
The driver of the vehicle who was identified as Adrian Maldonado,19 exited I-635, ran another light and crashed into a white Ford Mustang at Northwest Hwy and Shiloh Rd.
Maldonado and a female passenger Denise Vivas,19 fled the scene on foot but were later arrested.
There was a family of four inside the Mustang including a 2 year old girl that was ejected from the vehicle.
A 3 year old boy was also injured and transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition along with a man and woman in critical condition.
The suspects were both arrested and Maldonado faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault, as well as a charge of evading arrest with a vehicle, causing the death of another. He also had a warrant for a probation violation stemming from a burglary charge in Dallas County.
Vivas was charged with evading arrest and they remain in Garland jail.
