43-year-old Michael Patrick Turland, from Golden Valley, Arizona, is facing animal cruelty charges. This comes after 183 dead dogs, rabbits, birds, and many other animals were discovered in a freezer. Some seemed to be alive while frozen.
On Thursday, Mohave County deputies stated that a woman had contacted them after Turland didn’t give her snakes back. She had lent them to the man for breeding purposes.
When authorities and animal control went to a residence that Turland was renting on April 3, they found the animals in a big garage freezer.
Dogs, turtles, lizards, birds, snakes, mice, and rabbits are some of the animals that were found. “Several of the animals appeared to have been frozen alive due to their body positioning,” the Sheriff’s Office stated.
The owners of the home had contacted the woman after they found the dead animals. They had been cleaning subsequent to Turland and his wife, Brooklyn Beck, going out of the state.
Turland was apprehended at the residence on Wednesday after authorities discovered that he had come back on the property.
Documents note that when questioned, Turland confessed to freezing some of the animals while they were still alive.
He faces 94 counts of animal cruelty. Police are still attempting to get in touch Beck.
