After just turning 18, Juliette Lamour, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, purchased her first lottery ticket after taking her grandfather’s advice.
Shockingly, Juliette won $48 million and is now set to be the youngest person in the history of the Canadian lottery to win such a huge jackpot.
“I just turned 18, and my grandfather suggested I buy a lottery ticket for fun. When I went to the store, I wasn’t sure what to ask for because I had never bought a ticket before, so I called my dad who told me to buy a LOTTO 6/49 Quick Pick. I still can’t believe I hit the GOLD BALL jackpot on my very first lottery ticket!” Juliette stated at a celebration at OLG headquarters.
She had no idea that she was a winner. Juliette didn’t remember anything about the ticket until she heard about the winning ticket being bought in her city.
All of a sudden, she thought about the ticket, and a colleague said that he would look it up for her on his lottery app. When he scanned it, it read, ‘Big Winner.’
She said that her co-worker went down to his knees in disbelief, and everyone started screaming that she won $48 million, but it took her a minute to understand what was happening. She then called her parents to inform them of the incredible news.
Juliette says that the money will be primarily for saving as she will need it on her journey to pursue a career in medicine. She added that she is going to complete school for the semester and then go visit another continent with her parents.
Congratulations to her !!! Yay
God is good!
