An 18-year-old woman tragically lost her life after falling from the roof of an SUV and being struck by a fire truck in St. Louis Saturday night.
The incident took place around 11:20 p.m. at the intersection of Compton and Chouteau.
According to police, a Cadillac Escalade had come to a stop at a red light before making a left turn. Nyla Simmons, the victim, was dancing on the roof of the vehicle when she fell onto the street. She was then struck by a fire truck that was responding to an emergency call with its lights and sirens on.
Both the fire truck and the Escalade stayed at the scene following the incident.
Authorities have stated that all parties involved are cooperating with the investigation. It remains uncertain whether any criminal charges will be brought forward, as the investigation is still ongoing.
