18-Year-Old Arlington Teen Charged With Murder After Striking Man With Hammer, Fatally Shooting Him
18-year-old Oscar Gavia, of Arlington, has been charged with murder after accusations that he struck a man with a hammer and then shot him.
On Friday September 22, Benjamin Mancera, 33, was discovered dead with several gunshot injuries, on Mitchell St.
On Tuesday, Mancera was apprehended by the U. S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force and charged for Mancera’s killing.
Documents show that detectives think that Gavia hit Mancera in the head with a hammer prior to shooting him.
Detectives say that Mancera didn’t get along with his neighbors due to him being romantically involved with one of the residents.
Records show that Gavia and Mancera had a fight on the front lawn. Gavia then left the location and returned with 5-7 people.
Mancera was attacked with the hammer and shot prior to the suspects leaving the scene.
Investigators are still looking for the other people that may have taken part in the fight.
